Chocolate Choux Pastry
At the beginning of May we introduced some variations to our menu, including the addition of some small patisserie items designed to offer the ideal accompaniment to your hot or iced Koko Black beverage.
Our aim was to strike a fine balance between retaining our classics as well as your favourites, along with a seeding of new items. For example, favourites like the Chocolate Mousse and Koko Black Ice Cream are unchanged, however are now available as half serves. The new patisserie menu combines some slight variations on items you may have seen before, as well as some new and exciting pastries. One of these is the Chocolate Choux Pastry, pictured right.
Choux pastry has been described as the dough that ‘takes a deep breath and holds on,’ creating a magical hollow that is often filled with custard or cream. The word choux means cabbage in French. It was given this name in the 18th century because of the cooked dough’s resemblance to cabbage leaves. Choux pastry is made from butter, water, flour and eggs and is commonly used to make profiteroles and éclairs.
Our Chocolate Choux Pastry is filled with creamy vanilla custard and refreshing raspberry coulis that seeps out deliciously as the first cut is made into the light pastry dome.

Ordered the Choux pastry at Doncaster Store and was very disappointed. It was quite cold and the custard and rapberry coulis in the middle was very firm. I certainly did not seep out on the first cut. (Nothing like the photos)Whenever I am out shopping I always find a Koko Black. I had not been to one since March, which is a very long time between visits for me, and I must say I was somewhat disappointed in the menu and the service.
